SAKKARA...has a couple of symbolic meanings from an ancient Egyptian burial ground to the steps of sacred pyramids.  At any rate the name Sakkara is Imperial within its own regards to the Egyptian Destiny. Which is why this name was chosen. In 1976, the Master Masons of Inland Empire #3, stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, found the desire as well as the need to further their masonic travels and cross the Burning Sands of the Desert into Shrinedom. This journey started as Sakkara Shrine Club, under Beni Hassan Temple #64. During the leadership of Imperial Potentate Laddie L. Melton, Nafud #80 he consecrated Sakkara Temple #196, at the 85th Imperial Session in 1978, with Billy V. Morris as its first Illustrious Potentate.

Times were great and the temple flourished in the Oasis of Spokane, WA. However, with any organization whose membership is predominantly military, when duty calls the Nobility suffer. This put the temple in duress for a number of years with only a few Nobles keeping it together. By then the temple became dormant and over a decade Shrinedom in Eastern Washington was all but a memory with a few Nobles holding on to the memories of what used to be and the good old days.  That's until Fred Edward, Melvin Powell and Noble Gaskins introduce the vision of Shrinedom to the Craft of Pioneer Lodge #39 in Pasco, WA in 2012. They began as Akkara Shrine Study Club under Yemen Temple #152 with the assistance of Deputy of the Desert Eric  Barfield. The Master Mason crossed the Burning Sands, found refuge at the Oasis and drank from the Well of Zem Zem as there were created Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.

During Yemen Temple's Potentate Ball, Imperial Potentate Donald R. Parks was in attendance and meet with the Nobles of the Shrine Study Club to discuss starting a UD Temple. Through his Imperial guidance and wisdom, he suggested that Sakkara Temple #196 charter be reinstated with the full rights of a functioning temple, rather than starting the process of becoming a UD Temple. This venture took fruition at the 120th  Imperial Session in 2013. The charter was officially reinstated with Fred Edward as it's Illustrious Potentate.
